2009 Dental Users' Conference Recap

More than 600 oral health professionals attended the 2009 Dental Users' Conference held in Atlanta, November 6-8, for a lively and informative exchange of the newest technology and practice management techniques.

From Mark Woodman's opening remarks introducing Kodak's NextGen practice management software to an electrifying sneak peek at the SOFTDENT and PRACTICEWORKS PEARL Module, attendees knew they were in for a valuable stream of knowledge: how to better manage their practices and garner more utility from their current systems.

Highly anticipated keynote speaker Linda Miles shared keys to growing a successful practice during tough economic times. Linda encouraged new thinking and attitudes from both doctors and staff. She said making "Zero Defects" a team goal was critical to any practice's long-term business success. Attendees eagerly took notes as Linda summed up her 30+ years of industry experience into the five best and the four worst things a practice can do during a down economy. A rousing round of questions ended the morning and energized everyone for 2 days of indispensible education and networking opportunities.

Watch the highlights

Doctor Track
A robust, cutting-edge exchange of knowledge was introduced with the all-new doctor track. Numerous leading dental innovators shared insights on 3D imaging's clinical applications and the evolution of the standard of patient care. Dr. Marty Levin gave stunning visual examples of how CBCT enlightens his endodontic practice while drastically reducing radiation dosage and chair time for his patients.

New trends in cosmetic dentistry, the importance of sensor positioning and LOGICON Caries Detection Software, as well as practical advice on planning for the advent of 3D in your practice were among the many topics discussed in the weekend-long series of intimate peer-to-peer seminars.

Staff Track
Developing peak team performance was the dominant theme of the hands-on workshops series for clinical and administrative staff. Topics ranged from scheduling and billing to photography for marketing. Staff members were trained not only to better utilize the latest SOFTDENT and PRACTICEWORKS Software features, but were revitalized with best practices and tips to boost productivity in every aspect of their practices.

And it was Fun!
While the learning opportunities were the headliner, the hospitality brought many smiles throughout the weekend. Guests were treated to world-class service, delicious meals and great entertainment throughout the weekend, including the spectacular Under the Sea reception.
