About Lois Banta:
Over 28 years ago, when Lois began her career as a dental receptionist, she discovered simple practical methods for streamlining scheduling, resolving outstanding insurance claims and decreasing accounts receivable.  With the help of her newly found techniques, she became financial manager of a large dental practice in Minneapolis.  In this position she gained further insights... becoming an "insurance detective", an accounts receivable expert, team-building counselor and internal marketing guru.  Soon, other offices were contacting her for advice.  All of this "hands-on" experience has provided Lois a solid, practical foundation to help your practice.

Rita Bauer is the Manager of Media Services and Digital Media Education at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry, where she teaches Digital Photography, MICROSOFT POWERPOINT Software Presentation Techniques and Digital Technology at beginner and advanced levels.  She has been an invited speaker to many national and international meetings, and has presented over 600 lectures and workshops.  Her newly developed course in Digital Technology has put the Postgraduate Program at University of Toronto on the leading edge in the educational system and has been included into the residency and CE programs of numerous Universities. Session Description:

Everyday you clean, disinfect and sterilize for invisible infectious microorganisms.  You practice Standard Precautions to protect patients and yourself.  In this seminar, you will see visible demonstrations of microbial contamination during dental care.  With Glitter Bugs and humor, Jackie will show you where the germs are hiding.  You will learn to recognize where the touch and splash surfaces are in clinical areas and the potential for disease transmission.  Jackie will review effective methods for cleaning, disinfecting, using barriers and PPE.

With all that you do for infection prevention during patient care, how do your patients perceive the cleanliness and sterility of your dental practice?  Patients judge sterilization, cleanliness and safety by what they see, hear and smell during dental visits.  You will receive a 7-Point Professional Image Checklist for evaluating your dental practice's professional image.  You are probably doing all procedures according to OSHA regulations and State Dental Board Infection Control Standards, but are your practice's visual and verbal messages communicating a clean, sterile, and safe image to your patients?  How do your patients perceive your practice?  Rate patient perception of our practice with the 7-Point Professional Image Checklist and complete your Action Plan to polish your professional image.  One CE credit.

Dr. Emmott was raised in Arizona and attended the University of Arizona. He graduated from the University of Southern California Dental School in 1977. He is the president and senior partner of Dental Associates Ltd., a group dental practice in Phoenix, Arizona.

He is also an entertaining award winning professional speaker and seminar leader. He has addressed hundreds of business and professional groups on a variety of subjects, including: Computer Use in the Dental Office, Clinical Applications of Intra Oral Video, Practice Management and Marketing for Professionals and Communications. He is a Featured Instructor at the Las Vegas Institute on Technology. He also founded and leads a dental computer users group and maintains a dental users World Wide Web site.

Dr. Emmott is the monthly technology columnist for Dental Products Report Magazine and has had many articles published in national magazines on High Tech dentistry, practice development, management, communications and related topics.
